The Backup succeeded and so did the Integrity Check. To check out the Ghost Program I did another backup using the same settings (without the USB2 support) but this time to my D: drive. The Ghost Program created a Log file which reported that the Integrity Check had failed but it did not show how or why. The program had stopped responding and the only way to proceed was to switch off and reboot back to Windows.
The Check started and all went well for the first 10 minutes (about 11%) when everything froze. My External G: drive was visible and I selected the Ghost Backup file to carry out the Integrity Check. The computer booted up in PCDOS and Ghost started up.
I used a previously created Ghost Bootable CD with USB 2 drivers and the necessary Ghost files.
To double check I thought it best to carry out an Integrity Check. Several files appeared on the G: drive with the name I assigned to the backup so I assumed everything was OK. The computer then restarted back in Windows and I used Explorer to look for my Backup. The external drive was found and the backup was successfully created (I think). The Ghost program set the assigned parameters and proceeded to shut down the computer and start up again in PCDOS. I carried out a Basic Backup and in Advanced Settings under the External Storage Tab I checked to use USB2 and Assign Drive Letters. I tried to create an Image Backup of my complete C: drive onto my external USB2 drive using Norton Ghost 2003. I bought the external Hard Drive so that I could create Image backups of my C: drive using Norton Ghost 2003.
